The food arrived to the table pretty fast and it was very good. I would give them 5 stars and IHOP maybe 3 stars. Good service, lots of fresh coffee and... The food was par to any 5 star restaurant, in our book it was at least a 6. The comradery that goes on in there is out of this world, yes we felt like we had just been whisked away over the rainbow to a better time and place. There were no cell phones present, EVERYONE in there was visiting with EVERYONE else, whether they knew them or not.
The owner, Robbie Baker, sat in our booth and introduced us to his family through photos. The previous owner stood an explained how the place came into being. The waitress, Rita Cartwright, became my new best friends as we realized how much we shared in common.
P J's Rainbow Cafe
Speaking of food, the menu is large and has all the dishes you would expect in a cafe in the rural Ozark Mountains. Fried steak is a REAL piece of meat, not a frozen disk. I didn't ask, but I suspect they pound and bread the meat for the chicken fried steak on site.
It was so good this time we ate dinner with them twice and also enjoyed Sunday Brunch. Blackened redfish was great as was the beef filet medallions. We stopped in for breakfast after hearing from a local that this place just celebrated their 20th anniversary. PJs Rainbow Cafe did not disappoint!

White linen tablecloths and a table overlooking the White River welcomed us to our fine dining experience. We started with mouth water rustic bread and herb butter, then fantastic Oysters Rockefeller, then salads, then our main courses. My wife had the Prime Rib cooked perfectly,... Get coconut cake to go for later!
Went above and beyond to help my daughter. She took the time to locate the perfect dress for her and made sure she was able to alter it and have it ready. We found shoes and accessories as well... So, if you’re looking for that small town, local feel and comfort food, PJ’s is the place.
Pjs in Mountain Home, AR
It was cooked just right, tender and smoky. I had the pork chop and mashed potatoes and it was the best pork chop I have ever had. My wife had the salmon and there was enough or 2 and again cooked to perfection.

The world itself could learn so much from what goes on inside those 4 walls, where you were treated with utmost respect and friendship. I didn't want to leave, but now more than ever I want to go back. Thank you to the staff of Rainbow CafĂ©, you made our trip to Mountain View most memorable. This was our third trip to PJ’s. As always the food was excellent and the atmosphere welcoming and elegant. Also our waiter was very attentive.
My husband and I spent the day downtown enjoying the shops and flea markets and decided to have lunch here. It is your typical old fashioned diner. Nothing fancy but a little historic. We were able to seat ourselves. Finish your day with an award-winning meal from our world-class casual fine dining restaurant overlooking the majestic White River. If I could, I would give zero stars!
The burgers are juicy and tender, hand formed on site--not a pre-formed frozen patty. And the pies.....all are homemade by a lady that works at the restaurant, and they taste wonderful. This is a definite "go to" place in Mountain View.
Delicious home cooked food featuring several daily specials. Good prices, the only downfall is they do not accept credit or debit cards, you must pay in cash. Great service, friendly casual atmosphere. PJ's has opened again after closing due to Covid 19 and it is SO GOOD to be able to return!
We were visiting the area and looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Her blackened redfish was decent, my ribeye steak was the worst I have ever been served in my life.... A quaint and friendly downtown cafe with wonderful comfort food! Chicken fried steak is what they are known for, that's what I had - delish! YP - The Real Yellow PagesSM - helps you find the right local businesses to meet your specific needs. It has diner-style tables, chairs and booths as well as eclectic art hanging on the wood-paneled walls. Think black and white photo of Elvis and Johnny Cash to the Beatles in color and an American-themed wreath with silver Christmas ball ornaments. A very enjoyable evening with great food and service. A must try if you are in the area. Do yourself a favor, order the smoked Trout.
Clean but kitschy, PJ’s has been around since the 30s. Check out the old black and white photo on the wall above the hostess stand for a glimpse back in time. It hasn’t changed much though even though it’s changed owners several times over the decades.
The cookie jars are for sale for $20 a piece and the restaurant sells about 40 a month. In addition to the shelves, they're stacked on every available surface throughout the restaurant. The cafe owner also has antique stores, so as soon as she sells a jar she brings another in from her antique store business.

If you do go, a must have is the six layer coconut cake. We had been to P Js a couple of years ago and had a great meal so we came back when we were in the area. We were again wowed with the food and service. We had their signature smoked trout appetizer and were not... So hope that they get back to their old standards! My wife and I were excited to eat at PJ's.
